Frost free technology works by removing moisture from the fridge and freezer cabinets and trapping it against an evaporator coil. The coil is fitted with a heater which periodically energises to defrost the ice. As the ice defrosts, it is channelled outside of the appliance into a tray where the heat from another component (the compressor) allows the water to evaporate into the atmosphere.
